Alena Nicole is a writer, researcher, and cultural critic whose work explores the intersections of music, media, publishing, and collective memory. Holding a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of Miami, where she also studied Music Entertainment Business, and a Master of Science in Publishing from Pace University, she is particularly interested in how music shapes storytelling, identity, and cultural discourse across literary and multimedia platforms.
Her research examines topics ranging from the role of music in fiction and adaptation to the ways artists, authors, and audiences use storytelling to create meaning and connection. Drawing from both academic inquiry and personal observation, her work blends cultural analysis with a deep appreciation for the emotional and social impact of art.
In addition to her research, Alena writes about music, culture, creativity, and institutional storytelling through essays, interviews, and independent editorial projects. Sometimes working under the moniker ‘Lay Low,’ she is especially drawn to conversations surrounding contemporary R&B, publishing, digital culture, and the evolving relationship between audiences and the media they consume.
Through her writing, Alena seeks to document the stories, sounds, and cultural moments that shape how we understand ourselves and one another.
